Harambee Stars DP Ruto to give Harambee Stars Sh50 million on one Condition

Deputy President William Ruto has promised Harambee Stars a new bus in two weeks’ time with a pledge of Sh50 Million if they qualify for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Harambee Stars who emerged as Cecafa Champions have received lots of rewards from different stakeholders.

Stars earned Sh 10 million for lifting the tournament, with Dp Ruto adding them Sh 5 million for their victory.

Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko and his Machakos counterpart, Alfred Mutua each contributed one million with the rest coming from the prize money for lifting the regional tournament.

This means that each Harambee Stars player walked home with at least over a quarter of a million besides Sh10,000 shopping voucher from Supermarket retail chain, Tuskys Supermarket

“The heroics of goalkeeper Patrick Matasi and a vociferous home support sees Harambee Stars beat Zanzibar 3-2 on post-match penalties to clinch the 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup. A dramatic, thrilling finale and a proud footballing moment for Kenya. Congratulations our boys.” said Ruto via his Twitter handle.

President Uhuru Kenyatta also congratulated Harambee Stars “ On behalf of an adoring and grateful Nation and my Government, I congratulate our national team, Harambee Stars, for playing valiantly right from the preliminaries to the finals and emerging the Cecafa champions,” said President Kenyatta

Goalkeeper Patrick Matasi was the hero as Harambee Stars edged out Zanzibar Heroes 3-2 on post-match penalties to win a seventh Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday.

Matasi saved three penalties to help Stars beat the impressive islanders, who twice came from behind to force the match into penalties. The match ended 2-2 after extra time.
