Kenyan coach Salim Iddi, who worked with Dylan Kerr at Simba SC, is the man behind the Englishman’s appointment at Gor Mahia.
The Englishman, who is yet to be on the touchline for K’Ogalo in a league match since his appointment, replaced Brazilian Ze Maria at the beginning of July and fans are already anticipating success with him at the helm.
He was in charge of the club when they played against English Premier League side Everton on July 13 and saw the charges record a 0-0 result against National Super League side Wazito FC on Wednesday.
In an exclusive interview with P Live on Friday, the 50-year old coach revealed that former Harambee Stars goalkeeper trainer Iddi Salim was the man who played a role in his appointment.
“Coach Iddi (Salim) phoned me and he asked me if I would be interested in coming to Gor Mahia and I said yes. I told him to send me the details and let me know what the program is and I waited for a week before the deal was sealed.”
Dylan Kerr joined Gor Mahia from Chesterfield academy and will be on the touchline against Nakumatt on July 29.
