IAAF U-18 championships Kenyans record mixed results in opening session

Four Kenyans finished at respectable positions in the IAAF U-18 athletics championships' heats on Wednesday morning.

Youthful athletes from Kenya have registered mixed results in the opening session of the ongoing IAAF U-18 World athletics championship being held at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi.

The event started at 9:30am with heats and five Kenyans finished at respectable positions in the morning session.

Dominic Kipkemboi clocked 3.48.77 minutes to emerge the best in the 1500 metres race in Boys’ category after Elijah Onkware Matayo finished third in 100 metres with 10.78 seconds.

Mary Moraa recorded 54.07 seconds to merge the winner of the 400 metres heats phase in Girls’ category while Kelvin Sawe Tauta beat competitors to the 400 metres in Boys’ category.   

The afternoon session is set to kick off at 4:55pm.
