Ephantus Thuku, popularly known as Adonai, collapsed while heading for a business engagement in Mombasa. He was later treated for high blood pressure at the Pandya Hospital.
“After the Supreme Court ruling, I suffered shock and was hospitalized. We did not expect the court to pull such a surprise,” Thuku recalled during an interview with People Daily.
Adonai grabbed national attention earlier in the year after the local media reported that he had spent more than Sh13 Million of his own money towards the re-election of the Jubilee Presidential Candidate.
Despite his health troubles, the Nyeri-based businessman has vowed to actively campaign for President Kenyatta in the repeat election that will be conducted within 60 days from the date of the ruling.
In a ruling read by Chief Justice David Maraga, the Supreme Court stated that the election held on 8 of August was unconstitutional, adding that the process was marred by “irregularities and illegalities”.
