Media personality Annitah Akiru Raey has shared details about her life, explaining why she avoids relationships with men of shorter stature.

After revealing her struggles with Bell’s Palsy in 2024, some people claimed the condition was a punishment from God for the way she talked about such men during ehr time on radio.

The digital creator, known for her outspoken nature, has howver, revealed that her preference is rooted in traumatic experiences from her past, not hatred or prejudice.

Why Annitah Raey can never date a short man

In a conversation with Oga Obinna, Annitah delved into how her past shaped her choices and preferences, shedding light on a deeply personal journey of healing and self-discovery.

Annitah disclosed that her aversion to short men stems from an assault she endured years ago. Reflecting on the experience, she admitted that it caused her to unknowingly project her trauma onto others.

I got assaulted by a very short man, and I kept feeling like maybe he was trying to compensate for his height. I carried it heavily, unknowingly. I started judging them and projecting my feelings onto them.

It was during therapy that she realised her deep-seated resentment towards short men. Her therapist encouraged her to confront and understand her feelings.

It's something that my therapist told me later , that hey unachukia watu wafupi. And was like Anita we need to find out why you hate short men. My baby daddy is like 6.6 and my ex husband is I think 6.4. so stakangi mtu naangalia... I dont want to look down on people.

Annitah revealed that writing her book forced her to revisit painful memories, including the assault, helping her understand her feelings.

Writing my book took me back there. Ad this is the reason I don't like short men. People were like God was going to give me a short husband as punishment and I was like He's not that mean.... When I understood my reasons I no longer feel bad about it.

Not hate, just preference

Despite her past, Annitah emphasised that she does not hate short men. Instead, she simply avoids relationships with them as a personal preference and coping mechanism.

Not that I hate them, Its not just my preference. They dont take nothing away from me, but I cant be in a relationship with s short man. It's a trigger.

Annitah shared the challenges of her tumultuous journey. From running away from home at 13 to living on the streets for two years, selling and using drugs, and being assaulted in 2005, her life has been filled with struggles and regrets.

She described herself as a rebellious child who owes her mother multiple apologies for the hardships she caused.

Annitah Raey writes a book

Annitah found a sense of closure by talking openly about her experiences. After years of silence, she first spoke publicly about her assault in 2018.

Writing her book has further helped her confront and process her past. She has also strenegethened her relationship with God and says she has a purpose.
