After a prolonged absence from the public that saw him skip key events where his presence was largely anticipated, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has explained his whereabouts and addressed rumours of a split between him and the president.

The DP who since his appointment in November has accompanied the President to key events was a no show at New Year Eve dinner in Kisii hosted by the President. He also skipped the Piny Luo Festival in Siaya County that was graced by President William Ruto, his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Musevenei and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

His absence at the funeral of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s mother further fueled speculations on his whereabouts as he maintained a low profile with rumours of a rift with his boss swirling.
