A Kenyan man has killed his 83 year-old mother in-law and attempted to take a way his life.

The man identified as George Nderu is reported to have stabbed his mother in-law to death, and tried to commit suicide by taking poison, in the incident that happened in Gichiengo village, Lari in Kiambu County.

In a report by Nairobi news, 45 year old Nderu who works at a Primary school in Ndeiya is said to have visited his in-law’s home in search of his wife, who had left their matrimonial home following a domestic brawl.

According to eye witnesses, Nderu arrived at the diseased Rahab Njeri’s house and the guests she was hosting left. Before they could go far, they heard her screaming and on returning to the home, Njeri was lying in a pool of blood while Nderu was nowhere to be seen.

Nderu was arrested by the police and is currently receiving treatment at Tigoni Hospital.

Uplands police boss Isaiah Odhiambo who confirmed the incident said that they trailed the suspect to his home in Ngarariga and they have launched investigations into incident.

“Our officers noticed a stench of a chemical substance coming from his mouth and that is when decided to rush him to Tigoni Hospital where he currently is,” said Odhiambo.
