The government was on Friday taken to court by Brian Angwenyi who is representing five Chinese nationals who went missing after being arrested on Ngong Road, Nairobi, a week ago by officers from the Immigration department.

Angwenyi stated that the five had been taken to Nyayo House and then later handed to the immigration officers at JKIA.

The five foreigners are: Gang Shao, Xiaoying Qin, Yang Ting Ting, Li Kangzi and Nan Yangyang and are claimed to be in the country illegally by the officers.

The representative, claimed that he had searched the morgues, hospitals and police stations but his efforts were futile.

Struggles faced by Chinese nationals in Kenya

Chinese nationals have recently faced a lot of struggle in the country, with some even being deported after claims of being a security threat to the nation or racism.

In October 2018, five Chinese nationals had been arrested with dangerous items that were alleged to be a threat to the country’s security.

The items recovered during the raid included: Radio Calls, Military uniforms, laptops and metal detectors among others.

In a different incident, 15 Chinese girls were apprehended by the police at a brothel in Nairobi’s South C estate for engaging in prostitution following a tip off from a concerned member of the public.
