Director of Criminal Investigation boss George Kinoti on Thursday stated that he would not defend a police officer who had killed an innocent person while he was still in office.

Kinoti, who spoke during a meeting with residents of Kayole, vowed that he would not help any officer who took the law into his or her hand.

“I stand before God, if myself or anybody who will ever cover for someone who has killed an innocent person let God curse me.

“I am saying no one will ever cover for a police officer who kills under my watch,” stated Kinoti.

The DCI boss had joined DPP Noordin Haji at the meeting that had been organized by the public prosecutor’s office at the Kayole Social Hall.

The meeting was fruitful as the DPP and the residents agreed on various issues such as addressing the matter of the Hessy vigilante group.

DPP Haji declares touting is not illegal

Haji came up with ten resolutions where one of them was the declaration that touting was not illegal.

Touting is not illegal but do it decently and respectfully," remarked Haji.

Cap 103 Section (1) of the Traffic Act, however, outlaws the calling of passengers to board a PSV through means that could cause disturbance.
