Popular City Pastor Godfrey Migwi has blasted Kenyas women reps and called for a constitutional amendment to abolish the positions.
The pastor's sentiments come in the wake of the controversial incident at the Kericho Sunshine Upperhill Hotel where Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru was locked out from the premises for failing to produce a marriage certificate.
The hotel is said to have a strict rule requiring couples to produce a marriage certificate before they can be accommodated.
Pastor Migwi has now called out the women parliamentarians saying they are not doing the work that they had been elected for and instead have been focusing on petty issues.
"My opinion as a leader and chosen by God, Women leaders to focus on their work that Kenyans gave them. They were elected to do their work and not to catwalk across the country talking pettiness about hotel owners. You cannot go to media to start condemning about someone who is doing their business," Pastor Migwi said in a video posted on his Facebook page.
Respect the law
He insisted that no one was above the law regardless of their position in the society.
"In every business there are rules and regulations. Even if you are a leader you need to obey those rules. To be a leader does not mean you are above the law that you can enter anywhere. Our women leaders must change," Migwi said.
He went further to call for an amendment to change the laws on the women rep positions to be scrapped.
"They need to go to the grassroot without any special advantage from the constitution. We do not want a constitution that will favour a certain gender because we are all equal. I am not against women, they are my sisters and mothers but in politics we need to balance. The women rep seat should be scrapped," he added.
