President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Thursday meet Mt. Kenya leaders who have issued a tough demand that might spark disagreements between them.

A section of the lawmakers have demanded that President Kenyatta rescind his decision to freeze new projects.

They said the President’s directive has hurt the political careers of first-time Member of Parliaments who had promised new initiatives once they assumed office.

"Now, we have been elected and the President’s directive has made it difficult to lobby for those projects,” said an MP who was quoted by the Nation.

In July, the President gave a directive to stop new projects until stalled and ongoing ones are completed.

The MPs also requested that they hold frequent meetings with the Head of State amid an uproar that he had become inaccessible compared to his deputy.

"All other regions have had an opportunity to meet him. We are only saying that we also have a stake in this country,” he said.

The leaders also said that the President should continue being the regional kingpin even after his term ends in 2022.

The meeting was confirmed on Wednesday and details communicated to the leaders.

Kenyatta will meet the leaders at the residence of Regional Commissioner Wilson Njega in Nyeri town before he proceeds to open the Karatina Market in the afternoon.
