Nairobi Senator has been forced to defend his decision to rescue Babu Owino after he was accused of being a political sympathizer.
Sakaja responded to claims by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah over his participation Babu Owino's release.
Kuria had complained of betrayal saying Sakaja had never rescued him in their ten year friendship.
He explained that the deed was justified and accused Kuria and Ichung'wa of party politics.
"It is really unfortunate that the two leaders had to politicize the issue,” said Sakaja to Capital FM.
"Owino is not only a leader in Nairobi but he is first a resident in Nairobi. Securing his release from prison is not an issue which should have been politicized,” said Sakaja.
Owino had been arrested for reportedly assaulting a parking attendant, David Wagana, at Fortis Tower in Westlands on January 11th.
The Embakasi East MP denied the allegations saying that it's a plot to tarnish his image.
On Wednesday, Jubilee and NASA Nairobi politicians defended Sakaja and asked Kuria and Ichung’wah to keep off Nairobi politics.
Nairobi governor Mike Sonko defended Sakaja saying he was exercising his democratic right and shouldn't face judgement.
