The Nairobi Governor warned Owino to stop insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta and further insinuated that the MP would be physically harmed if he insisted on abusing the head of state.
“Uhuru Kenyatta ni rais wa Kenya. Jubilee tuko na ma mafia, tuko na ma rasta wa jubilee. Tuko na MCA wajuaji kama Mark Ndung’u. Kama anataka kudungwa, tutamua Mark Ndungu akudunge, tutatuma ma rasta wa jubilee wakudunge, (Uhuru Kenyatta is the President of Kenya. In Jubilee we have mafia, we have rasta men, and we have cunning MCAs like Mark Ndung’u. If he wants to be stabbed, we will send Mark Ndung’u to stab you. We will send Jubilee rasta men to stab you),” Sonko told a rally in Nairobi.
The City County boss added that he would not sit back in his fancy office while President Kenyatta was being insulted, adding that he was not afraid to lose his seat if it came to that.
Owino has landed in unprecedented trouble following controversial abusive remarks that were allegedly directed at the President Kenyatta’s mother, Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
After making the remarks on Sunday, there was a public outcry leading to his arrest on Monday before being arraigned in court on Tuesday.
The former student leader spent two nights at Kileleshwa Police station before being released on bail on Wednesday, and shortly after dramatically re-arrested for a fresh case whose details are not yet clear.
