Professional career
Governor Lusaka resigned as a Permanent Secretary in 2012, to make a debut in elective politics where he contested the Bungoma Gubernatorial seat during the 2013 General Elections.
Political career
This he was able to do through his well-articulated, researched and development oriented policies that addressed the needs of the people of Bungoma through his Manifesto.
On 4th of March 2013, he was elected the first governor of Bungoma County. He was elected on a New Ford Kenya ticket in 2013 but later joined Jubilee, which already handed him a direct ticket to contest in August. He will be facing off to retain his seat with ODM’s Alfred Khang’ati and two others.
Controversies
Mr Lusaka has been under probe over his county’s purchase of 10 "special" and "non-carcinogenic" wheelbarrows at the cost of Sh100,000 each. He is also linked to a company that has allegedly won the majority of Bungoma County contracts.
