The Nairobi governor had last week sacked finance executive Danvas Makori over claims of working with Evans Kidero
Mary Nyambura Maina, who currently supervises two clerks at Kenya Power, was asked to explain how she will preside over City Hall’s budget that runs into billions of shillings despite never having handled a budget of Sh1 million.
“As much as I do not have the experience, I will follow the laid down rules. I plan to immerse myself into the job and learn in the process,” she said on Wednesday while appearing before Nairobi County Assembly’s Finance, Budget and Appropriation Committee.
Her vetting comes days after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko sacked finance executive Danvas Makori over accusations of “working with the governor’s enemies”.
In a letter dated April 5, Mr Sonko said Mr Makori’s performance was put into consideration before he was sacked.
