Barely a week after Co-operative bank was robbed Sh30 Million, an employee of the bank has disappeared with Sh40 Million...
According to senior managers at the bank, the suspect only identified as Dennis, allegedly duped customers to invest in treasury bills only to disappear with the money later.
Confirming the incident, Branch manager Daniel Kimosop said: “Let me refer you to our senior manager who will talk to you about the problem.”
On the other hand, marketing manager Ngumo Kahigo disclosed that they were working with detectives following numerous complaints from clients.
The manager noted that one staffer, who might have been the mastermind, had been nabbed by police officers
"Several cases have been reported by clients. We are dealing with them separately and at different levels," Kahigo told a local daily.
The incident comes barely a week after another Co-operative bank, isiolo branch, was robbed Sh30 Million by a gang of robbers who were helped by the bank staffers.
The robbers were said to have accessed the bank on Sunday evening after colluding with one of the employees who opened the door for them.
The three thieves tied other four workers who were in the bank and escaped with the money together with the employee who had helped them.
