Kenya has reportedly discovered copper at these two locations
The investors, led by the region’s Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Samuel Kanyi, asked the government to start exploitation.
Embu governor Martin Wambora announced the discovery of copper at Evurore ward of Mbeere North and another site in Mbeere south while speaking at a meeting with investors at the Kenya School of Government in Embu.
Mr Wambora said the county government has involved geologists from the Ministry of Mining to establish the volume and the extent of the minerals before the county government embarks on exploitation together with investors.
Should the volume be enough to warrant large scale mining, the county government stands to immensely benefit from discovery.
Currently, a kilo of copper retails at between $4.00 - $6.00.
The county is scheduled to hold an international investors conference from March 23, focusing on value addition, energy, investment, ICT, tourism and financial services.
