African cities may be one of the world's biggest hotspots for tourism, but how does it fare for solo travellers?

Business Insider sub-Saharan Africa has compiled a list of the 17 cities in Africa that you should not travel to alone.

The list of cities below is based on the most recent study by Numbeo's 2017 Crime Index (where 0 is utterly safe and 100 is the most crime-ridden).
