Sex doll ‘Samantha’ tops Kenya's list of Google search trends
Yvonne Wamalwa, Farida Karoney also made it to the list of popular searches
The doll developed by Barcelona-based engineer Sergi Santos dominated the top trending search, with the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) 2018 intake coming in as a second trending item after it opened its online application system for 2017 KCSE students.
Google Search Trends is a publicly available tool that indicates search patterns over a period of time.
It shows the clusters of searches that made it to the weekly trending searches in the country.
FA Cup
The Football Association Challenge Cup, officially known as the FA Cup, trended at number three as the 2018 edition of this annual knockout competition in English football came to its third and fourth rounds.
Other popular searches include Yvonne Wamalwa, widow of the late former Vice President Michael Wamalwa Kijana who died last Sunday and Farida Karoney who was nominated to the position of Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Lands.
‘Cabinet Secretaries’ was also another popular search item last month following the announcement of new public office holders by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Nairobi Deputy Governor,Polycarp Igathe was also among the most searched after he tendered his resignation on 12th January stating that he had failed to earn the trust of Governor Mike Sonko to enable him work at the county.
In the "how to" segment, the top trending search in the month of January was how to reverse M-Pesa, buy tokens and the third being how to withdraw money from SportPesa.
