Kenyan shirt company launches new line of ready-to-wear shirts for rich African men
The designer is also working on a big project designing uniform for the Kenya’s national airline, Kenya Airways.
Tayler Gray, as the brand is known joins the company’s two other end bespoke brands, Narok NYC and exclusive wedding suits brand, SAO.
Zeddy Loky, the creative director, told GQ south Africa that the new brand targets affluent African men, who have worked really hard, have earned a good life and a strong sartorial game created by the hands from the African soil.
According to Loky, the shirt quality is of the highest standard and precisely what a ‘last-minute shopping’ man requires.
The collection will be a combination of trans-seasonal colours and on-trend colours.
"The collection will not be so far off from the trends and seasons around the globe but it will show cognisance of the customers that are the primary target market in Nairobi.’" Said Loky.
To achieve the global features, the company has enlisted a UK-based consultant, who will be working with them in ensuring they are always fresh and up to date with everything that is happening in the fashion industry across the world.
The consultant whom the company refused to divulged has worked for big fashion brands such as Burberry and ‘she’s also designed a line that showcased at Paris Fashion Week.’
“From here [Kenya], we cater for the middle East of Africa, we understand that sometimes it will not be matching with what’s happening with the rest of the world. And because we want our customers to be in tune with what’s happening globally, her role as consultant is to make sure we incorporate global trends where we see fit.” Said Loky.
Mr Loky also disclosed that the company was working on a big project that will see them designing uniform for the Kenya’s national airline, Kenya Airways.
The plan is to design a uniform that translates ‘the pride of Africa.’
