Hundreds of Kenyan women fall prey to fake marriage offer by 'German doctor'
The women were exposed by the 'German man' on a popular Kenyan Facebook group
The man, who identified himself as Robin Johnson, masqueraded on Facebook as a German doctor saying he was interested in marrying a woman from Kenya.
"Hello Kenyans. My name is Mike from Germany. I am 38 years old. I know Kenyan women are really wonderful. I would like to marry a lady from Kenya," read part of his post on the popular Kilimani Mums and Dads Facebook group.
The women responded to the marriage request in droves only to realize later that the 'German man' shared screen shots of their romantic messages on the group.
He said, in a subsequent post, that he received hundreds of friend requests and messages in Messenger, with many women, even those whose profile said they were married, reaching out to him.
Insults
“Within minutes [after posting to Kilimani that I was looking for a wife], I received 938 friend requests and 100 plus DMs [direct messages]. I will be writing a book on this."
And despite being bashed online, Mr Johnson insisted that he bears no responsibility for the women’s crashed unions after he had exposed their identities.
There were unconfirmed reports of wives dumped by husbands on Friday after their names were posted on Facebook in the now infamous Robin list.
It is reported that most of the women listed in the Robin list have since deleted their Facebook accounts with a number of them switching off the mobile numbers they had given out.
