Nairobi ranked among world's top 100 priciest Airbnb cities

The listing dubbed Bloomberg World Airbnb cost Index said an average cost of a house accommodating two adults is Ksh5,300 ($53) in Kenya’s capital.
The current cost however represents a three per cent drop compared to the 2017 ranking.
The index ranks more than 100 global cities based on the average daily cost of lodging in private homes.
Cape Town was ranked the most expensive home-rental city in Africa and the 27th most expensive metropolis in the world where the average cost of accommodation is $127.
Kenyan properties
Lagos ($103), Abuja ($91) and Harare ($65) also edged out Nairobi in the global rankings taking 43rd, 54th and 85th spots respectively.
Airbnb is an online market place that allows people to list, search for and book accommodation across 81,000 cities and 191 countries. Home owners with extra rooms price them lower than hotels and lodges.
Data from the US firm shows that there were 39,500 guests hosted in Kenyan properties in the year to September, a 143 per cent jump from a similar period last year.
