The thing is this today’s Tuesday is not like any other work day, it’s a free day and hence you can have a little fun.

Today is Eid al-Adha, a Muslim celebration which revolves around the time Allah appeared to Ibrahim in a dream and asked him to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, as a sign of his faith, and the world joined Muslims across the world in marking and celebrating the day hence the free holiday.

Being midweek, tomorrow is work day as usual and your boss will be expecting to see at work hence you cannot afford to travel far to have fun

That, however, does not mean you need to stay indoors and binge on movies, drinks and food not at all you can take utilise this day to refresh your mind by going somewhere close

There is no other place than the Lakehouse Tigoni, a lovely 8 acre estate with a private swimmable lake in the highlands of Limuru.

“An amazing place – calm, serene, with an amazing chef and food – and just so nice to be able to jump in the lake for a swim. And all so close to Nairobi. The best. We’ll be back!” one of the reviews about the place reads.

The Lake House is perfect for one or two families or a group of friends wanting to escape the city and enjoy a really restful rural retreat.

The 8 acre estate features a farm, huge lawns surrounded by mature gardens, and of course the Tigoni Dam (part of the property).

The estate has a lovely house that sleeps 11, the View Tent that sleeps two, ground that have hosted events for over 250 people, and a floating restaurant that seats 40.

The View Tent is a luxury private tent with an amazing view of the lake. It sleep two, has its own bathroom facilities, and is available for $70/night (weekdays) or $140/ighnt (holidays and weekends).

The Eduardo Barge is a floating restaurant on our lake, iIt has a full, professional kitchen and seats up to 40 guests.

In addition to the magical views, you can enjoy a walk on their vegetable farm, a swim or boat ride in the lake.

Other attractions include golf, Mlango organic farm tours, Brown’s Cheese factory tour, or the Kiambethu tea farm tour.

“This is one of Kenya’s truly magical spots – a quick 40 minute drive from the centre of Nairobi and a serene lake and huge grounds all to yourself and your guests. The team managing the house – especially the chef – were just gems and served up feast after feast. We can’t wait to be back!” says another review of the lake house.
