Jamaican lottery winner shows up in emoji mask to hide identity
Well played Gray
The woman, identified as N. Gray, showed up in the mask while collecting her May 11 winnings from the Caribbean lottery at a Jamaica hotel.
Super Lotto organizer Supreme Ventures Ltd posted photos from the conference on Twitter where they quickly went viral.
Gray won the jackpot last month when she randomly picked numbers a few hours before a regional Super Lotto draw.
Speaking to the Jamaican Observer, Gray said she intends to invest her winnings and enjoy a cruise around the Caribbean adding that she has no intention of leaving her current employment.
“I am employed, but I am not necessarily going to leave my job. Now I’ve won, I want to clear my debt, invest, and I want to do some traveling,” she said.
“I would like to construct a community center for the youths in my community, so they can engage in something productive; somewhere where they can do information technology.”
Her clever disguise may have won a lot of people over but there was a serious reason behind it.
Lottery winners in the Caribbean country often wear disguises when collecting their winnings due to high crime and the fear of being hounded for money from friends and family.
