As she turned 34 this year, Lupita channelled the movie into her party which was apt since she is also from a royal (political) family in Africa and who moved to America to pursue opportunities her homeland didn't offer.
She threw the joint Coming to America-themed birthday party with Eclipsed and Black Panther co-star Danai Gurira who is Zimbabwean. They used the hashtag #WakandasmeetZamunda for their party which was some sort of tribute to the classic film and the Black Panther film that is set for release next year.
For non-Marvel Universe fans, Wakanda is a fictional nation appearing in the American comic books by Marvel Universe and is home to the Black Panther.
In attendance was Janelle Monae (Hidden Figures), Chadwick Boseman (T'Challa in Captain America: Civil War), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), and Winston Duke (Person of Interest).
