Meghan Markle is reportedly having a lavish baby shower at the most expensive hotel suite in the US. Here's what it's like inside the $75,000-per-night penthouse.

Meghan Markle is currently in New York City, and is reportedly in town to celebrate her baby shower with her close friends in the most expensive hotel room in the country on Wednesday afternoon.

Initial reports suggested that Markle's celebration took place on Tuesday, but a new Tatler report citing an unnamed "insider" source says that the Duchess of Sussex's friends including Serena Williams and Amal Clooney are hosting the lavish shower in the $75,000-a-night penthouse of The Mark Hotel in Manhattan's Upper East Side.

The event, which reportedly begins at 12:30 p.m. EST, will include a flower-arranging class as well as a dessert table created by Michelin-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten (who is said to also be in attendance), according to Tatler.

Lifestyle magazine Elite Traveler named the lavish, 12,000-square-foot suite (and the reported venue for Markle's shower) the most expensive in the US and the world, tied with the $75,000/night Royal Penthouse Suite at the President Wilson Geneva in Switzerland.

The five-bedroom suite designed by the renowned interior designer Jacques Grange spans two floors of the five-star hotel, and has its own rooftop terrace, conservatory, two wet bars, and a library lounge.

The Daily Mail reports that Markle is thought to have stayed at the hotel on Tuesday night with Serena Williams following their dinner at Ralph Lauren's Polo Bar.

Williams reportedly chose the hotel as the venue after exploring other options in New York City. As Tatler pointed out, the athlete is known to bea fan of its restaurant, Jean-Georges, helmed by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
