The winner of 2018 Barclays Kenya Open who will walk away with €80,000 will be wearing this jacket by local designer
Nick Ondu’s design was selected after a thorough process which included subjecting the concepts to a panel of judges as well as an online public vote.
The contest, which brought together six renowned Kenyan designers, is part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Kenya Open golf tournament.
The organisers of the BKO 2018 decided to present the jacket to the winner as is the tradition in other major tournaments in the world such as the Augusta Masters.
The judging panel consisted of Caroline Ndung’u, Director of Marketing and Corporate Relations at Barclays Bank of Kenya, Wambui Karanja the BKO Project Manager and Monicah Kanari a renowned fashion designer.
The other top designers who took part in this contest were Kokeb Pinard of Koki Designs, Vivienne of Vivienne Taa, Tshilidzi Phaladi of Chilidzy-Dee-Designs, Stephen Ounga of Monoxrome Nairobi as well as John Kaveke.
This year’s championship will be the most lucrative tournament on the European Challenge tour boasting of a total prize kitty of 500,000 Euros (KES. 62.5 Million).
The 50th Edition of the Kenya Open Tournament will take place on 22nd-25th March at the Muthaiga Golf Club.
