Retired heavyweight boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has added another ridiculously expensive item to his collection of prized purchases.
The undefeated champion recently purchased an $18 million (Sh1.8 billion) watch and as usual he couldn’t wait to show it off to the world.
“This my new timepiece, it’s called ‘The Billionaire Watch,” Mayweather bragged in the caption of an Instagram video. “If you don’t know about it, google Billionaire Watch. That’s $18 million on the price tag.”
According to Forbes, the Billionaire timepiece was first introduced to the world in 2015 and Jacob Arabo created it in affiliation with Flavio Briatore and his Billionaire Lifestyle SARL company.
The one of a kind Billionaire timepiece is set with 260 carats of emerald-cut diamonds. The bold cut enhances the brilliance of the diamonds, which are set in an inverted pyramid style. The entire 18-karat white gold case and bracelet of the watch is diamond-set with stones that weigh as much as three carats each.
Not everyone was exicted about the purchase however with rapper 50 Cent throwing shade at the boxer, referring to him as ‘dumb for purchasing the watch.
“Man they done found the 1 fool in the world, dumb enough to buy that watch” 50 Cent said.
Keeping in mind how diamond came to be in the hands of DeBeers company and how ‘Diamonds are forever’ got coined, 50 cent may have a point but away from their beefs, it is an open secret that Mr. Mayweather loves to bling and in fact the $18 million watch is just one among many ridiculously expensive items he owns.
Before he retired, he reportedly made over $300 million from his fight with Conor McGregor to join the billionaire athletes club.
After the fight, he proudly lifted up the money belt which contains 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 160 emeralds and approximately 3.3 pounds of 24-karat gold and alligator leather that comes from Italy.
The retired boxer also owns a collection of lavish cars, which includes two Bugatti Veyrons, a Rolls-Royce Ghost, a Ferrari 599 GTB, and the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita “hypercar” worth $4.8 million.
The boxer claims that he owns one of only two models ever made by Koenigsegg.
In February, the superstar fighter treated himself to another private jet as a birthday gift, bringing his total to three.
According to Black Enterprise, the lavish aircraft—which looks a lot like the $60 million Gulfstream G650—comes with leather seats, chrome interior, and several flat-screen TVs.
In May, Mayweather claimed that his dog was wearing “red bottoms,” a signature shoe made by luxury designer Christian Louboutin, TMZ reported.
Louboutin shoes don’t come cheap and typically range anywhere from $600 to $5,000 for humans.
The boxer also gifted his teen daughter with an enormous 30-carat diamond ring designed by Pristine Jewelers for her 18th birthday.
While on set at Jimmy Kimmel Live, Mayweather admitted to once owning a Brink’s truck that he used to haul large wads of cash. The armored truck was reportedly worth $2 million and included a full master suite, a living and dining room, a bathroom, and a kitchen. He later sold the truck.
The flamboyant fighter paid his former personal chef, Chef Q, $1,000 for every plate she prepared.
Back in 2013, Mayweather reportedly spent $150,000 during a night at the famed King of Diamonds gentlemen’s club in Miami.
