The man's family has been slapped with a Sh300,000 medical bill

Robert Muchangi died Wednesday at the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following the June 13 attack in Meru, eastern Kenya.

The Standard newspaper reports that Muchangi, a mason, was attacked after demanding his dues from a man believed to have offered him a building job at his home.

He was rushed to a local hospital by a good samaritan before being referred to KNH where an X-ray revealed the extent of injury on his skull and brain.

The family urged the government to get justice for Muchangi saying the assailant was known to him.

They also seeking help to raise the Sh300,000 medical bill after the deceased’s seven-day stay at the facility.

“This is a difficult time for us. We are in mourning and cannot even afford the Sh4,000 for a postmortem that should be carried out as soon as possible,” Mr Muchangi's sister said.

Police remained tight-lipped about the incident, with senior police officers in Meru declining to comment on the issue that has shocked Kenyans.
