The popular white sand beach in the South Coast was ranked seventh overall in the list of top 25 best beaches in Africa.

On Tuesday, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya was ecstatic that Diani Beach had been voted seventh best beach in Africa, he commended tourism stakeholders and residents for taking care of the beach by preventing it from sea pollution.
The governor also thanked travellers from across the world who voted for the popular beach in the country.
On the continent, Anse Lazio Beach from Seychelles was rated the best beach in Africa, Camp’s Bay Beach from South Africa second, Praia de Santa Maria from Cape Verde third while Anse Source D’Argent from Seychelles was ranked fourth.
Clifton Beaches from South Africa was placed fifth, Nungwi Beach from Tanzania was sixth while Diani Beach in Kwale County was rated seventh overall.
Nakupenda Beach from Tanzania was eighth, Praia de Chaves from Cape Verde took ninth position while Bloubergstrand beach from Cape Town Central, South Africa, completed the list of the top 10.

Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers Coast executive officer Sam Ikwaye said the ranking of the beach would boost tourism in the South Coast.
He added that the ratings by TripAdvisor was a demonstration that travellers had confidence in Kenyan tourism products.
“There is need for aggressive marketing for both local and international tourists to come in droves to enjoy our alluring beaches at the Coast,” he said.
Globally, Baia do Sancho Beach from Brazil was voted the best beach in the world, Grace Bay Beach from Turks and Caicos took second position, Eagle Beach from Aruba was third, Playa Paraiso from Cuba was fourth while Siesta Beach in Florida was fifth overall.
La Concha Beach from Spain was rated sixth, Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres was seventh, Ramadhanagar Beach from Andaman and Nicobar Islands was eighth, Elafonissi Beach from Greece was ninth while Galapagos Beach from Ecuador took 10th position.

Diani could be busy throughout the year if the beach is aggressively marketed in international markets; Kenya tourist stake holders opined.
One thing is for certain though, you need to add Diani beach in your bucket list asap.
