A globetrotter and president of the world’s best­-selling Cognac has revealed 6 countries that you need to add to your bucket list this holiday

Monsieur Laurent Boidevezi is a globetrotter and has worked in different continents representing Moët Hennessy in different capacities.

  • Business Insider SSA recently had a chat with him when he was in Nairobi over a tot of Hennessy about his travelling escapades and list of favorite countries across the world he has visited and forever holds dear in his heart.

Nothing brings this phrase to life more than during the festive season and end of year holidays where for once busy executives briefly drop everything to fly millions of miles away to an exotic destination to get lost in the sun, sand and sea.

One such person who luckily enough doesn’t have to wait for festive seasons or end of year to travel but rather travels frequently because of his ‘fun’ job as President & Regional Director of Moët Hennessy is Monsieur Laurent Boidevezi.

Boidevezi is a globetrotter and has worked in different continents representing Moët Hennessy in different capacities.

A graduate of Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris, in France, Laurent Boidevezi is a lover of life and believes in enjoying and having fun in all one does and by all accounts he seems to drink what he preaches.

“When you open a bottle of Hennessy it’s a travel experience, you know all your senses are basically activated it takes your mind off from your worries and takes you on a journey of good times with your family and friends, Hennessy is all about sharing emotions and good times,” Said Monsieur Boidevezi.

He joined the company in 1997 as a business analyst, had a taste of Hennessy and got hooked and has never left the company ever since.

Business Insider SSA recently had a chat with Monsieur Boidevezi, when he was in Nairobi over a tot of Hennessy, the world’s bestselling cognac selling more than 50 million bottles worldwide annually, about his travelling escapades and his list of favorite countries across the world he has visited and forever holds dear in his heart.

Here is Monsieur Laurent Boidevezi’s list of six ‘must visit’ countries you ought to add on your bucket list this festive season.

Kenya

Whoever coined the term ‘Kenya Hakuna Matata’ should be given a medal says Monsieur Laurent Boidevezi.

“I must come back to visit Kenya national parks, I went to Maasai Mara National Park there once, some 30 years ago and I was blown away. This is such a magnificent country that I definitely want to bring my children to take their time visiting Maasai Mara, Tsavo, Mombasa etc,”

Lying at latitude -0.023559 and longitude 37.9061928, Kenya is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and was voted the world’s leading safari destination by the World Travel Awards (WTA) in 2015.

Japan

Japan is home to more than a dozen UNESCO World Heritage sites and is the birthplace of sushi, one of its most famous culinary exports.

Monsieur Laurent Boidevezi is head over heels with Japan’s out of this world culture.

“If you really want to have a different and unique experience, I mean every time I go there, I am always blown away by how their culture is different and unique is Japan,”

The country has many and unique culture celebration festivals ranging from the snow and ice festivals in Sapporo in the north to more ancient/traditional festivals with priests and shrines, it’s a fact Japan loves every reason to celebrate!

“Japan is so different and unique in its own way it’s amazing and that’s something very interesting for me,” Says Monsieur Boidevezi.

Italy

From the crumbling ruins of Rome to taking a leisure boat ride at Grand Canal all while enjoying the scenic views of Venice, it’s impossible not to fall in love with Italy.

Then there is Rome where history, architecture, museums, great food, shopping, historical monuments, and great gelato (Italian-style ice cream) all combine to a deadly irresistible cocktail of beauty and love. There is really no other city quite like Rome in the world.

“You can have a really good time in Italy, it is a fantastic country, it’s really nice and has a good mix of all activities you can do,”

Morocco

Lying 13 kilometers, or 8 miles, from the coast of Spain, this North African country mixes Middle Eastern magic, Berber tradition and European flair to unparallel perfection never witnessed elsewhere on Earth. Be warned Morocco will steal your heart and there is absolutely nothing you can do to have it back.

“I very much like Morocco it’s one of the most beautiful countries in Africa,” Says Monsieur Boidevezi.

Brazil

Monsieur Boidevezi says visiting Brazil, one of the largest countries as well as one of the most diverse and fascinating nations in the world, any time is always a brilliant decision you will never regret.

Having worked in Brazil for years Monsieur Boidevezi says the country is filled with a rich dose of history, culture, religion and great sportsmen and women unlike any other place on earth.

“Brazilians are a very happy people, they have energy and enjoy life to the fullest, no wonder they believe God is Brazilian and if you think about it, it kinda makes sense Brazilians enjoy life, enjoying food, sharing sports just living life to the fullest like it oughts’ to be” Says Monsieur Boidevezi.

With more than 1500 Brazilian beaches to choose from and more than 500 picturesque island paradises, it is going to be very hard to work out which one to visit first.

Its hugely popular Carnival, outrageous costumes, street dancing and parties that carry on until dawn is an unforgettable experience.

New York, USA

Dubbed ‘the greatest city in the world’ it is easy to see why New York deserves the title.

The view from Rockefeller Centre, the feeling you get walking over the Brooklyn Bridge, the heart-racing pulse from walking up 5th avenue and the sense of peacefulness whilst sitting in Central Park are but just a few reasons why you should visit this great city.

“If you want to be at the center of all the energy, center of all the action then New York is always a good choice,” says Monsieur Boidevezi.
