Aga Khan left counting losses after fierce fire destroys its health center
The value of destroyed properties could not be immediately verified but it is feared it could run up to millions.
Aga Khan Heath center in Dodoma was on Sunday destroyed by fire despite attempts by the fire rescue team to contain it.
According to the Center’s administration officer, Mr. George Washable, the fire razed the building housing X ray services but no patients were injured or died during the incident.
The value of destroyed properties could not be immediately established but it is feared it could run up to millions.
The Fire and Rescue regional commander, Ms Regina Kaombwe blamed the incident on an electric short circuit which occurred as soon as power was restored back.
“The area had no power since morning, it was only reconnect in the afternoon, we believe that the accident occurred because of switches could not withstand the more than usual at the time that power was restored in the area” she said.
Though the rescue team arrived at the scene 10 minutes after the fire had erupted, she said it was already too late for them to save any property.
