Zimbabwe First Lady, Auxilia Mnangagwa is keen to become ‘the next Kenyan first lady’ and to achieve her dream she wants some leadership lessons from her Kenyan counterpart Margaret Kenyatta.
On Wednesday, Kenya’s First Lady Margaret Kenyatta hosted the visiting Zimbabwe First Lady at State House, Nairobi where the two first ladies discussed a number of common interest issues, among them women empowerment, women and child health, and collaboration between their two offices.
During the visit, Mrs. Mnangagwa expressed her interest to be ‘mentored’ by her host so as to learn and benefit from the wide experiences of her Kenyan counterpart.
“I have come to see and learn. You are my mentor. I want to replicate whatever you are doing here back in my country,” said the new First Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa who assumed office after the July 2018 elections in Zimbabwe.
And to start her ‘mentorship’ program, the visiting First Lady accompanied her host to Tharaka Nithi County to launch a water treatment plant.
Mrs. Mnangagwa paid glowing tribute about Mrs. Kenyatta’s accomplishments and innovative engagements such as First Lady’s Beyond Zero initiative which have been recognised across the world.
