Kenyan MP arrested for allegedly insulting President Kenyatta and Kenyans on Twitter are not having it

He is alleged to have referred to the President as “a son of bi*ch” (mtoto wa mbwa) while addressing Opposition supporters in Kawangware area, Nairobi over the weekend.

Mr. Owino was taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over alleged abusive remarks on Mr. Kenyatta.

He is alleged to have referred to the President as “a son of bi*ch” (mtoto wa mbwa) while addressing Opposition supporters in Kawangware area, Nairobi over the weekend. Officers at the DCI headquarters were ordered to study the clip that captured the said utterances for possible action.

Traffic at the busy Thika highway was brought to a standstill after residents of Kiambu hold demos demanding arrest of the legislator.

similarly, Githunguri, Limuru, Githurai, Ruiru & Gatundu residents also held demos demanding arrest of Mr. Owino over his abusive remarks.

On social media, his remarks elicited strong reactions from a section of Kenyans and after news of his arrest was made public Kenyans took to social media to express their reactions.

"Point to me any Kikuyu politician who has made a career without abusing Raila Odinga. I will join you in castigating Babu Owino." Jared Okeno posted on facebook.

"Babu hapo you chewed more than you could swallow. Don't insult the president. Even Raila doesn't insult Uhuru... Sasa unaenda kula uncooked beans in the cells.Meanwhile .. Tibim!"  Hon Fred posted.

"And God has not started on your case yet you insulted a parent, utajua haujui and before God's wrath come to you, we women tunakukujia, we must deal with you as well. Shindwe!" Mary Wanjohi posted.

"Babu Will be out in no time..... In Kenya if you want to be famous abuse the uthamaki or Raila and tomorrow you will be trending worldwide!!!!! Politics chafu!!! Nimehamia kwa M7"   Roberto posted.
