Israel's Prime Minister warm reception in Kenya (video)

Before flying to Kenya, Netanyahu told the world that he was making the trip in order to deepen Israel’s ties with Africa.

President Kenyatta was sworn in on Tuesday for a second term at the Moi International Stadium Kasarani.

Mr. Netanyau had been expected to attend Kenyatta’s swearing in ceremony at Kasarani Stadium but failed to do so citing security concerns.

"The purpose is to deepen Israel’s ties with Africa by establishing connections with nations which do not have diplomatic relations,” he said.

Before adding: “Four Israeli diplomatic offices have been opened in Africa in the past two years, and I hope that by the end of today I will be able to announce the opening of yet another Israeli embassy in an African nation And this is just the beginning".

The Israeli Prime Minister landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where he was given a guard of honor.

He later made his way to state house where he was received by President Uhuru and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

Before departing he gave a spech on increasing bilateral relations between Israel and Africa and announced his country will open an embassy in Rwanda as part of the push to increase its influence in Africa.
