Prof Juma died on Friday while undergoing treatment in Boston.

Professor Juma died on Friday at the age of 64 while undergoing treatment in Boston. He was one of Kenya's foremost recognised professors and was internationally recognised for his immense contribution to science, technology and innovation.

President Kenyatta mourned his death stating that the country had lost one of its most distinguished scholars and patriots.

President Kagame also eulogised the Havard professor as 'a brilliant mind who was dedicated to innovation, education and Africa's prosperity.'

Professor Juma was the only Kenyan to be listed in the inaugural list of “2017 Most Reputable People on Earth”.

He was a professor of the Practice of International Development and Director of the Science, Technology, and Globalization Project at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School.

Prof Juma died while undergoing treatment in Boston, Massachusetts. He passed on just a week after the burial of his mother, leaving behind one wife and a son.
