Family friends, colleagues and politicians converged at the Consolata Shrines in Westlands Nairobi to commiserate with the family of the late Chris Msando.
Until his death, Msando was in charge of the computerised voting system in his capacity as IT acting manager with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
"I don't know where to start...I don't know what to tell you...All I have to say is 'why'. Why? Why?" Msandos' widow, Eva Buyu said during the mass.
“Stand with us Kenyans and be with us for now I ask God to give us strength to bear the loss of my brother. Kenyans pray with us do not relent, help us get justice.” Pamela Msando, sister to the slain official also said.
Msando went missing on 28th July a week to Kenya’s general election and on 29th July was found naked, tortured and murdered alongside the dead body of a young woman, raising fears that Kenya’s election may have been compromised.
Kenyan opposition, National Super Alliance Coalition (NASA) has rejected the results of the recently concluded general election which gave the incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta victory.
NASA flag bearer, Raila Odinga who has since moved to the Supreme Court to challenge the outcome claimed the elections were rigged after hackers gained entry to the IEBC data base and introduced several programs to manipulate data using the identity of Msando.
On Tuesday, he paid a courtesy call to the family where he reiterated that justice must be done for the family.
Meanwhile, police have said that they are yet to make any significant headway into unravelling the puzzle as to who exactly killed the electoral official and why.
Msando will be buried on Saturday in his ancestral home of Lifunga Village, Siaya County.
