Raila says he is ready to extend handshake gesture to Deputy President William Ruto
The two have had bitter political exchanges since the March 9 handshake
Mr Odinga said he is ready to close ranks with the deputy president in the journey to unite Kenyans.
“I have been building bridges with all the presidents Kenya has ever had starting with retired President Daniel Arap Moi, Mwai Kibaki as well as the current Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta, I am determined to close ranks with every one including deputy President William Ruto,” he said.
The Orange Democratic Leader (ODM) leader noted that the building of bridges will help solve Kenyans social, economic and political aspects.
Political exchanges
Ruto and Raila have engaged in political exchanges since the latter shook hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier this year in what was a public gesture of reconciliation following last year's protracted elections.
They however embraced in a hug during this year's National Prayer Breakfast in a bid to cease blunt attacks that have threatened to undermine the political truce.
