IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati

The temporary staff will be expected to support the electoral body during the 30-day voter verification period beginning May 10- June 9.

The jobs include 40,200 voter verification clerks, 290 constituency information, communication and technology (ICT) clerks and 1,450 registers of voters verification assistants.

IEBC will also hire permanent staffers that include; a constituency elections coordinator for Kasarani, 30 county information communication technology officers and an administrative assistant for Dadaab constituency.

Meanwhile, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has announced that only the electoral body is allowed to count, tally, collate and announce election results.

Chebukati was responding to ODM leader Raila Odinga who announced on Sunday that the National Super Alliance (NASA) would do its own counting and release the results after the August poll.

Odinga claimed that it was the only way to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta did not rig the polls as he did during 2013 elections.

The IEBC chairman assured Jubilee, NASA and other parties that the electoral body had taken necessary measure to ensure the results were free, transparent and represented the will of the people

“We invite all actors to review the results management framework. By setting up the new integrated election management system, the commission shall guarantee greater transparency, accountability and auditability of the results.

"Other actors including political parties will access the results within the established framework," Chebukati said in a statement.
