The Opposition is set to hold a prayer rally parallel to President Kenyatta's swearing in.
According to the Daily Nation, officers in full riot gear on Tuesday threw teargas everywhere, including residential estates while battling the group of youths who were marching to the grounds.
The opposition is set to hold a prayer rally at the venue to pray with the families of those allegedly killed by police during demonstrations against the repeat presidential election. The rally will be held at the same time when President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta will be sworn in to office.
The coalition’s leaders have maintained that the October 26 repeat poll was a sham and they will not recognise Mr. Kenyatta as president despite the Supreme Court upholding his re-election.
The Nasa leaders turned down President Kenyatta’s swearing-in invitation, with Mr Odinga terming it "a feast" as other Kenyans "mourn".
“We are mourning, and on the other side, Uhuru is preparing a feast, a ceremony. All patriotic Kenyans will be at Jacaranda mourning our people brutally killed by this regime,” said Mr Odinga.
