Tanzanian president fires 10,000 civil servants at ago

In his true spirit of 'Hapa ni Kazi tu' Magufuli immediately ordered the civil servants sacked...

Tanzania's president, John Magufuli.

After receiving an audit report on public servants academic documents which revealed that nearly 10,000 Tanzanian civil servants have fake school certificates, Magufuli in his firebrand style immediately ordered their salaries withheld.

“They are thieves like any other thieves…you cannot performed if you don’t have deserving qualifications” he said as reported by Tanzania’s daily.

The audit report released in the Tanzania’s capital, Dodoma, showed that 9,932 government employees have fraudulent secondary school qualifications.

Magufuli then directed the Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa that posts which were being held by the fake certificate holders be immediately declared vacant.

Fake degrees and certificates is not unique to Tanzania alone, the whole of Africa is battling to containing the rampant vice, In Kenya for instance Kenyans would remember the famous Ferdinand Waititu’s fake ‘Punjab University’ degree scandal and more recently Mombasa governor, Hassan Joho fake university degree certificates.

The only difference between Kenya and Tanzania is fake certificate owners are immediately fired and even charged in court.

President Magufuli reiterated that the government was losing Sh19.82billion Tanzanian shillings monthly and 238.1billion to ghost workers.

He further ordered other civil servants whose certificates have been found with discrepancies should be forwarded to courts “so that they could be jailed for seven years as the law states”

A total of 435, 000 civil servants were audited by verifying their certificates whereby 9,932 were found with forged papers.
