The withdrawal of Raila Odinga ushered Kenya into uncharted territory and since then legal experts and ordinary Kenyans have been outdoing themselves to understand what the withdrawn means
More so, after National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga withdrew from the race this week.
The withdrawal ushered Kenya into uncharted territory and since then legal experts and ordinary Kenyans have been outdoing themselves to understand and explain what the withdrawn means for the country in line with the constitution.
It is this scenario that has landed Erik Esbjornsson, a Swedish freelance reporter based in Nairobi into hot waters with Kenyans on Twitter.
Nanjala Nyabola, a Kenyan writer and political analyst based in Nairobi, had authored an article titled; "Why did Raila Odinga withdraw from the election rerun?" for Qatari news outlet Al Jazeera, analysing the situation in the country.
Esbjornsson was not too pleased with the analysis and said so via Twitter.
Never mind that Nyabola is a graduate of Harvard Law School, with a bias on the legal and socio-political dimensions of conflict in Africa.
Some netizens, however, did not like the ‘condescending’ nature of the tweet and took it upon themselves to educate the Swedish freelance journalist.
