Democrats mocked Republicans from the House floor on Thursday after the passage of the American Health Care Act by chanting "hey hey hey, goodbye."

Democrats have signaled they believe the passage of the AHCA, the Republican proposal to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, will result in many Republican representatives being voted out of office next year.
Republicans sang the same chant in 1993 after former President Bill Clinton's tax bill passed in the House. That bill's passage came just more than a year before the GOP crushed the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate in 1994, winning a treasure trove of seats.
The bill passed by a slim 217-to-213 margin. It now will advance to the Senate, where its fate in its current state is unclear.

The first iteration of the bill was pulled from the House floor in March after it became apparent it would not have enough votes to pass. This version featured a couple of tweaks, which helped push it over the finish line.
In a speech before the vote, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said a member of Congress who voted for the AHCA would have the bill's provisions "tattooed on your forehead" and would "glow in the dark."
House Republicans left Congress soon after the vote to travel to the White House for a Rose Garden celebration and press conference with President Donald Trump.
