South Africans are happy that Fikile Mbalula was fired following Ramaphosa's cabinet reshuffle

Mixed reactions as Fikile is axed in cabinet reshuffle announcement

Mbalula confirmed the news to The Star newspaper, moments before the 10pm announcement which also saw ten ministers and three deputies who served under former president Jacob Zuma sent packing.

Earlier on Monday night, a tweet by Mbalula sparked speculation about his position as police minister and more so after changing his Twitter biography.

While he admitted that news of his axing came as a shock, the 'Chief of African Twitter' sent his best wishes to new police minister, Bheki Cele.

Meanwhile, South Africans took to Twitter to express their mixed reactions over his firing. Some of the citizens praised him for his contribution as Police Minster.
