President Donald Trump continued his multi-day assault on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in a Thursday tweet, saying he should "get back to work" on GOP agenda items.

Congress is on recess for the month of August. Trump is spending 17 days away from the White House — this week, at his resort in Bedminster, New Jersey — for what the White House calls a "working vacation."
During a press availability, Trump was asked by reporters whether he thinks McConnell should step down as majority leader based on his tweets. Trump responded that if McConnell doesn't get Obamacare repeal, tax cuts, and infrastructure done, "then you can ask me that question."

"Well, I’ll tell you what," Trump said. "If he doesn’t get repeal and replace done, if he doesn’t get taxes done, meaning cuts and reform, and if he doesn’t get a very easy one to get done – infrastructure – if he doesn’t get that done, then you should ask me that question."
Trump took issue with what he saw as a lack of preparedness on the part of congressional Republicans to deliver on their promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.
"I just want him to get repeal and replace done," Trump said of McConnell. "I've been hearing repeal and replace for seven years... all I hear is repeal and replace. And then I get there and I say 'where is the bill' because I want to sign it first day and they don't have it."
Trump also said he was not happy in how the healthcare debate played out in the Senate, where it was defeated by one vote in July.
"So I said Mitch, get to work and let's get it done," Trump said. "They should have had this last thing done. They lost by one vote, for a thing like that to happen is a disgrace and frankly it shouldn't have happened."

The tweet comes as another shot in a war of words between the two Republican leaders that began after Trump attacked the Senate for failing to pass a bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act in July.
McConnell suggested Tuesday that Trump was frustrated with the healthcare failure because he had "excessive expectations" due to his lack of experience in politics.
That prompted a rebuke from Trump and White House social media director Dan Scavino.
