Kenyans react after Ruto's Weston Hotel is linked to Shanzu beach project

Two Nation journalists were arrested while filming the property

Kenyans are reacting to a news report alleging that a Nairobi hotel, linked to Deputy President William Ruto, is behind the extension of Dolphin Hotel in Shanzu, Mombasa.

Records from environmental agency (Nema) indicate that extension of the hotel, that is allegedly encroaching on sea land, was filed by Weston Hotel Limited.

The report by Daily Nation also says that the agency approved the extension despite uproar from human rights activists and members of the public who claim it has blocked the public from accessing the beach.

Arrested

Government authorities on Friday inspected the property, a day after two Nation journalists were arrested while filming the construction of the hotel.
