Kenya’s Deputy President stirs up social media after eating at a makeshift hotel

Mere PR stunt?

A photo of Kenyas Deputy President William Ruto enjoying a light meal at a makeshift hotel has caused a stir on social media.

Mr Ruto had just concluded a tour of Kisii County on Friday before he stopped over at the backstreet hotel to have tea and chapati (unleavened flatbread) in the company of Kisii Governor James Ongwae as well as the hotel owner.

Indeed he got the internet talking but a majority of Kenyans were huffed by the self-proclaimed hustler's photos which they termed as 'mere PR stunt.'

They instead asked Mr Ruto to deal with the issues facing the country including the corruption scandals that hit headlines in recent days.

Stop confusing us with tea, we have burning issues like nys and maize scandals. Tea can be taken even in a calabash!!!!

Busy campaigning for 2022 while our money is being looted..You should forget our votes if thats how you'll work

So these Fools use PR STUNTS to lie to you that they care and pretend to understand what you go through?! Why are Kenyans so naïve.?So what he had tea in a kibanda? Will that wipe off the grand corruption and the hardships you are all going through?! Such Theatrics

We are civilized Kenyan Citizens! Taking tea in a Kandaski will never return billions of money of kenyans#NYSscandal ! Stop your Hypocritical Doings !!

Can you and the president stop everything else and concentrate on the corruption so rampant under your watch backdate every scam and make sure all the money is refunded and culprits jailed then we can talk.

This posturing with the poor after superitending over their humiliation is unacceptable. Your Excellency, your inaction in taming corruption has failed us.

Ruto ..we don't care about PR. I swear unless you crack the whip of corruption with your boss ...you won't be the president.

Kenyan politicians have in the past used theatrics such as mingling with the common citizen when the general elections beckon in a bid too woo voters.
