Liverpool physio reveals whether or not Mohamed Salah will fast ahead of CL final
The Liverpool forward will be among the star players in Saturday's showdown against Real Madrid
Salah, a devout Muslim, has been abstaining from food and drink during daylight hours since the start of Ramadan on May 16.
But Liverpool physio Ruben Pons confirmed that the Egyptian will be breaking his fast in preparation for the game on both Friday and Saturday.
“We were in Marbella and the nutritionist established a work plan,” he told Spanish radio station Cadena SER. “Tomorrow and the day of the match he won’t, so it’s not going to affect him.”
Egyptian newspaper Al Masry al Youm had previously reported that Salah would uphold his fasting in the hours leading up to kick-off at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev.
44 goals
Sadio Mane and Emre Can are also of the Islamic faith, but it's unknown whether their plans are the same as Salah's.
The 25-year old enters Saturday's showdown against Real Madrid with 44 goals this season.
His battle with the Champions League’s top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the headline sub-contests in Kiev, with the two players on a collision course for this year’s Ballon d’Or, along with Lionel Messi.
