Coronavirus conference canceled because of Coronavirus

The Council on Foreign Relations has canceled a roundtable on Coronavirus scheduled for Friday (March 13, 2020) in New York due to the spread of the virus.

The roundtable is called “Doing Business Under Coronavirus”.

According to Bloomberg, the Council of Foreign Relations (CFR) has also called off other in-person conferences that were scheduled from March 11 to April 3, including roundtables in New York and Washington and national events around the U.S.

The nonprofit think-tank on US foreign policy and international affairs joins a list of postponed or cancelled events including the annual New York auto show.

The Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association said that the car show will be rescheduled to late August.

A statement on CFR’s website said that “there are currently no upcoming events. Please check back soon for new events.”

The cancelled events join other conferences affected by COVID-19 around the world particularly New York which has recorded the largest number of coronavirus cases in the US.

The spread of the coronavirus has caused the postponement or cancellation of more than 50 major corporate events with an estimated attendance of almost 1 million people, according to data collected by Bloomberg News.
