The competitive e-commerce industry is set to get even tougher as yet another online shopping portal has made its entrance to the market.
Step aside Jumia, here comes LG's online shopping site
Electronic manufacturer LG, has launched an independent e-commerce platform as it seeks to increase the company’s footprint in the country.
The multinational company says that it is increasing its products availability beyond the physical stores.
LG terms the launch as move coming against the backdrop of consumers’ increased access to the internet through mobile phone technology as well as a fast-growing middle class.
Customers using the platform will be able to enjoy a wide variety of electronics and home appliances such as audio systems, televisions, air conditioners, microwaves, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, washing machines and dish washers among others.
All these products will come with free country-wide delivery as well as two-year warranty and one-year free insurance for products worth Sh60,000 and above.
“Our customers in Kenya will now have 24-hour access to the best of our innovative, genuine and quality products via their computers, smartphones, and tablets from anywhere in the country together with a one-year free insurance for products valued from Sh60,000,” Said East and Central Africa managing director of LG Director Janghoon Chung.
LG’s e-commerce site launch offers a wide variety of options to online shopping customers who at the moment shop from popular sites such as Jumia and Kilimall.

Payment option for now is only cash on delivery. Customers will however disappointed by the fact that the site is not selling smartphones.
